Lions Win – The Job Isn’t Over, It’s Only Just Beginning

Yes the Detroit Lions won.  The sense about Detroit seems to be that we finally ‘accomplished’ that win.  Yes we did get a win, but that’s not ‘the’ accomplishment.  The job isn’t over here folks.

This team needs to view this as the beginning of a long task, not the end of a long task.  Now is not the time to relax because they finally accomplished that one thing, ‘a win’.

In the past this team would shrink back and almost relax after they won a game or broke a streak of futility.  In the past this team acted like ending the streak of futility was the main task to be completed.  They acted like ONE win ended it and they would go back to business as usual.

These Detroit Lions can not go back to business as usual after this win.  They haven’t finished the race, the race has only begun.

Our team can’t celebrate as if they’ve won the Super Bowl or broken through and that the futility is ended.  When one win is celebrated with so much importance as this win could be celebrated, a mentality of let’s relax and enjoy it could set in. If this happens, we’ll just be right back to having another long losing streak.

We can’t go one step forward only to take ten steps backwards.  Forward is the only direction to go.  You can’t move forward if one win is given too much importance.

Time to put it in perspective as we keep the obstacles and goals ahead in our perspective too.
